ABOUT US

Tucson's only mother and son team of Officiants!  A Joyous Officiant was founded in 2011 by Rev. Dr. Joy, with her son Ben joining  in 2016. 

We have been busy helping couples all over Tucson!  When we are not officiating we are both artists who enjoy doing art in all mediums.  Our house and yard are full of original art by mainly Ben!  Ben has loved creating since he was little, working with all mediums the creative mind is always looking for the next project.  His art has been shown at a local gallery and his day job is working at CycleSkins doing custom painting and body repairs on motorcycles. He enjoys working with Acrylic paints and air brushing.  He also officiates wedding.

Rev. Dr. Joy  enjoys a variety of projects, including writing books and articles for the Metaphysical Community along with co-authoring two wedding books with Ben,  “The Wedding and Reception planning workbook” and “The DIY Wedding Guide," both are available on amazon.

Her own books include “The New Ministers Handbook for the 21st Century”  “The Archangels Light, and ."The Archangel Prince." 

Her articles have been published in  “The Journal of Metaphysical Thought” , and Awakening Magazine.  Rev. Joy received her  Doctorate in Metaphysical Science May of 2020, from the University of Metaphysics in Sedona and has a second doctorate from Universal Life Church Seminary in Ministry.



Where do I get the license?

Obtaining a marriage license in Arizona is very simple. The couple must appear together at any courthouse in Arizona and show a picture I.D., such as a driver’s license or State issued ID. The Superior Court located at 110 W. Congress, Room 131A, Tucson; hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, except holidays.The current fee for obtaining a marriage license is $83.00(as of 1/14/2023).   The minimum age to obtain a marriage license in Arizona is 18. There are no blood tests or health certificates required, and there is no waiting period. Couples who have obtained a marriage license have up to one year from the date of purchase to have the licensed signed.
